Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Matt Moran ("we," "us," "our," or "mattymoe.ai") collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you visit mattymoe.ai, subscribe to our newsletter, or otherwise interact with our services (collectively, the "Services").

The plain-English version: We collect your email when you subscribe. We use it to send you the newsletter and related content. We use Beehiiv to deliver email and Vercel to host the site. We don't sell your data. You can unsubscribe in one click, or email us to be deleted.

1. Information we collect

Information you provide

Email address, when you subscribe to the newsletter, fill out a form, or contact us.
Optional details, name, role, or other context if you provide them (e.g., in a contact form or reply).
Phone number, only if you opt in to SMS communications (see Section 7).
Communications, anything you send us by replying to a newsletter or emailing us directly.

Information collected automatically

Usage data, pages viewed, links clicked, time spent, referring URL, browser type, device, approximate location (city-level via IP), operating system.
Email engagement, whether you opened an email, what you clicked, and when. Standard for all email service providers.
Cookies and similar technologies, small files stored in your browser. See Section 9.

2. How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

Deliver the newsletter and related content you signed up for.
Personalize content and respond to your messages.
Measure engagement and improve our content.
Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or technical problems.
Comply with legal obligations.

3. How we share your information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:

Service providers who help us operate (see Section 4). They process data on our behalf and may not use it for their own purposes.
Legal authorities when required by law, court order, or to protect rights, safety, or property.
In a business transfer if mattymoe.ai is merged, acquired, or sold, subscribers will be notified.

4. Third-party services we use

We use the following third-party services that may process your information. Each has its own privacy policy.

Beehiiv, email delivery, subscriber management, and engagement analytics. Beehiiv Privacy Policy

Notion, hosts the publicly-shared playbook. Visiting the playbook is governed by Notion's Privacy Policy.

5. Data retention

We keep your email address and engagement history for as long as you remain subscribed. If you unsubscribe, we keep a suppression record (to make sure we don't email you again) and may retain anonymized analytics. We delete personal information on request, see Section 8.

6. Data security

We use industry-standard safeguards (TLS in transit, encryption at rest where applicable) to protect your information. No system is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. SMS / text messages

We do not currently send SMS messages. If we add SMS communications in the future, you will only receive them if you affirmatively opt in (provide your phone number AND check a clearly labeled consent box). At that time:

Message and data rates may apply.
You can reply STOP to any message to unsubscribe.
You can reply HELP for support.
Frequency varies; not all messages are marketing.
Consent to receive texts is not a condition of any purchase.

Your phone number will never be sold or shared with third parties for marketing purposes. SMS consent is collected separately from email consent.

8. Your rights

For everyone

You have the right to:

Access the personal information we hold about you.
Correct inaccurate information.
Delete your information (right to erasure).
Unsubscribe from emails at any time, one-click link is in every email footer.
Opt out of any future SMS messages by replying STOP.

For California residents (CCPA / CPRA)

You have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, including:

The right to know what personal information we collect, use, disclose, and sell or share.
The right to delete personal information.
The right to correct inaccurate personal information.
The right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
The right to limit the use of sensitive personal information. We do not collect sensitive personal information.
The right to non-discrimination for exercising any of these rights.

For EU / UK residents (GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have additional rights:

Right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection.
Right to withdraw consent at any time (does not affect prior lawful processing).
Right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

Our legal basis for processing is your consent (given at signup) and our legitimate interests in operating the newsletter. We may transfer your data to the United States; we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards where required.

For other US state residents (CO, CT, VA, UT, OR, TX, MT, IA, DE, NH, NJ, etc.)

If your state has a comprehensive privacy law, you have substantially similar rights to those listed in the California section above. Contact us at matt@mattymoe.ai to exercise them.

9. Cookies and tracking

We use cookies and similar technologies for:

Strictly necessary, to operate the site and remember your subscription state.
Analytics, to count visits, measure engagement, and improve content (anonymized where possible).

You can disable cookies in your browser settings, though some site features may not work correctly. We respect Do Not Track signals where technically feasible.

10. Children's privacy

Our Services are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us at matt@mattymoe.ai.

11. International users

We are based in the United States. If you access the Services from outside the US, your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States. By using the Services, you consent to this transfer.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top and, for material changes, notify subscribers by email or a prominent notice on the site. Continued use of the Services after changes means you accept the updated policy.
